My Brother Committed Murder And Death - 876 Words

In life we’ve all committed some type of sin, some more than others. Is one sin more serious than the other? It’s hard for anyone to tell what sins you commit, will get you into the kingdom of heaven. The bible lays out Ten Commandments to follow to live a pure life, but when we decide to follow the bottom half and not the top half, I wonder how God sees us then. What happens to a man that’s committed a horrific crime and dies in prison after he asks for forgiveness? In 2009, my brother committed murder and was sentenced to life in prison. My brother and I grew up in a Christian family and were always taught values, morals and having good character. My brother has since turned his life around in prison, he’s currently finishing up his associates degree, and volunteers regularly at church. I meet with my brother weekly and it hurts me one day he will meet with our creator, to be judge for the sins he has committed. That’s why I came up with t his question. I think of my brother and all the other men and women sitting in prison, regretting what they did hoping to one day they will be forgiven. â€Å"In 2012, a Washington Sentencing project report shows 160,000 prisoners serving life in prison and of these 49,000 are serving life without the possibility of parole, an increase of 22.2 percent since 2008†.
